The Role

Pitchtape is looking for a Backend Engineer to help lead the design and implementation of our video-first asynchronous communication platform. You'll be part of a collaborative team creating a first-class user experience on top of a rock-solid technical foundation.

The position will entail hands on programming, with overall accountability of all technical implementation aspects of projects, including planning, architecture, design, development and testing.

This is a full-time, remote position.

Responsibilities

  • Design, define and implement technical requirements for product development

  • Develop and maintain a back-end API written in Python and NodeJS

  • Develop and maintain the cluster recipes written in Golang using Helm

  • Implement automated release strategies

  • Write unit tests for implemented code

  • Attend daily stand-up meetings, weekly planning and review sessions

  • Anticipate obstacles and address them in a flexible and proactive manner

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant experience

  • Experience in fast-paced startup environment

  • Familiarity with Python, Django, Javascript and ReactJS

  • Experience with agile development (kanban, sprints and daily standups)

  • Collaborative, self-motivated, ambitious and resourceful mindset

  • Exceptional analytical and critical thinking abilities

  • Strong background in technology selection & application design

  • Experience in building pipelines for continuous integration and continuous development

  • Experience using containerized applications (Docker), cluster technologies (Kubernetes, etc), and cluster package manager (Helm)

  • Experience using NodeJS is a plus

  • Experience using automated tools to build deterministic builds is a plus

  • Prior experience in development of video technologies is a plus
